As much as this makes me uncomfortable, we’ve run out of options.

Midna, the cat that I have had since she was a baby, and my entire adult life (10 years), has been having medical issues. While she is otherwise a perfectly healthy cat, she has recently developed multiple Mass Cell Tumors, which are a rare type of tumor for cats, and if they are malignant, they can spread. Our vet has never seen one in a cat, and his supervisor has only seen one in 30+ years of combined veterinary practice. Now, Midna has developed 2-3 in a short amount of time.

Because of the rarity of this, I’ve had to take her to a specialist, who needs to figure out if this is a bigger issue that could be coming from her spleen. At best, she will need an ultrasound and surgery to remove the tumors. Worst case, she could need her spleen removed and chemotherapy.

My husband and I have already paid over $2000 over the last month in vet bills for her first surgery to remove the first tumor and for her exam fees and testing. As a law student approaching finals who is already working a part-time job to make ends meet, our family does not have the means to come up with this kind of money, especially in such a short amount of time.

I know times are really tough for all of us, but anything helps. Even just sharing this. I have to do everything I can for her, she is part of our family and I want to make sure she is around for our kids. Midna is not currently suffering, but I cannot wait for this to possibly get worse and to affect her even further.
