Hi, My name is Rebecca Lockman and I have dedicated the last year to raising a future guide dog named Midge. She is a very funny, charismatic 50-pound golden retriever and the spunkiest little girl. At 16 months of age, she suddenly presented signs associated with a Urinary Tract infection. Antibiotics were prescribed, but the symptoms were becoming increasingly worse. Midge went into surgery on February 15th, 2024 where they found a large tumor within her bladder. February 21st we found out it was a very rare and aggressive cancer called Botryoid Rhabdomyosarcoma. Minimal research has been done because of this rarity, and chemotherapy/ radiation treatments haven't been proven to help.
Our goal in fundraising is to provide money for researching this specific type of cancer so that future dogs can have a chance at the long, happy lives they deserve.
We want to do everything we can to ensure that there are treatment options for those that we love, and it's devastating to see those who provide you with such happiness be in pain.
A variety of organizations will receive donations from this forum, including The National Canine Cancer Foundation, Ohio State University Research Facilities, and Pilot Dogs Inc.
