My name is Patrick Harris, a 10-year veteran in education, who is passionate about finding creative ways to engage students in English class and social justice.

Instead of writing a traditional research paper, I have tasked my students with creating a documentary on an issue of social justice of their choice. Students are responsible for the creation of their documentaries from ideation to filming to editing. We are grateful to partner with PBS Detroit x The Michigan Learning Channel, who have graciously provided us with film equipment and guidance.

We are currently looking to offset costs for field trips (off-site filming), editing software, a space to celebrate their work in the end, and other miscellaneous costs.
