Meet Nico! Nico recently came to Michigan from Australia with no known health problems and scored an amazing foster home with Fred Barton. Last month, Fred took Nico to MSU Vet Clinic as Nico was experiencing severe gastrointestinal issues.
X-rays showed that poor Nico had a diaphragmatic hernia, which required a $2,500.00 CT scan.
In layman's terms, there was a break in his diaphragm allowing his abdominal organs to move to his chest.
As he was still weak from his severe colitis, he went home for recuperation and some TLC.
His surgery was performed three weeks later and was successful. The surgery cost was $6,500.00. He is home with his loving foster dad and doing well.
Fred describes Nico as "one of the sweetest, happiest greyhounds" he has encountered. In essence, his life has been saved twice!
With a generous grant from the GREY2K USA Education Fund, the initial CT scan and ER charges were taken care of. Additionally, the rescue kennel in Australia made a generous donation. This leaves Michigan Greyhound Connection to pay for the hernia surgery.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Nico thanks you too. ❤
We are asking for your assistance to help with the cost of the surgery and aftercare for his colitis treatment.
