As many of you have seen, one of my best friends, Mickie Knuckles, was badly burned during a wrestling match. A couple of days later, her injuries required her to be admitted to the hospital’s burn unit, where she remains receiving treatment and beginning what may be a difficult road to recovery.

Anyone who knows Mickie knows just how tough she is. But more importantly, behind the wrestler everyone knows and loves, Mickie is a devoted mother to two beautiful children who depend on her.

Mickie supports her family by doing what she has dedicated so much of her life to—traveling and wrestling all over the world. She is one of the hardest-working people I know, and canceling a booking is something she simply does not do unless she absolutely has no other choice.

Unfortunately, being confined to the hospital has already forced her to cancel several wrestling appearances. For an independent professional wrestler, canceled bookings mean lost income. As she continues receiving treatment and focuses on healing, there may be additional bookings, travel opportunities, and income she simply cannot take on.

Right now, Mickie’s only job should be getting better—not worrying about how she is going to provide for her children while she is unable to work.
