If you were born and raised in Gallatin its hard not to know Mickey Dorris Jr. The man has a heart the size of this town and will befriend anyone he meets. His number one priority has always been his family and providing for them.
This past Monday he was rushed to the hospital during early morning hours with symptoms of a heart attack. A few hours later, it was determined he had a 99% blockage on one artery and 70% on another. They did immediate surgery to put two stents in the 99% blockage and had planned to do the other artery the next day but have decided its best to wait for the next surgery for a few weeks to give his heart a break and have limited activities.
They are also concerned with heart damage as his ejection fraction should be 60% but is currently at 25%. The doctor said it will be 3 months before they know for sure what damage may have been done. He is currently having to wear a life vest which is an external defibrilator incase any kind of abnormalities were to happen with his heart rhythm.
He has now been put on some very expensive medications, has another surgery coming up, and down from doing any work requiring and kind of physical labor he was doing before in his business. As you can imagine the stress of bills, work, and the surgeries themselves are piling up which is the last thing he needs to adequately recover.
Sumner County citizens never cease to amaze me on how they come together to help a fellow Sumner citizen in need, especially one that has helped build this town along with his family and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need of it. Right now though the tables are turned and he definitely needs any help he can get as life throws curve balls unexpectedly such as this one.
Your donation will be much appreciated and not overlooked as we all hope for a speedy recovery and good news from here on out for Mickey. Thank you in advance for any donations made!
