I’m creating this in hopes of offering some relief to my younger sister, Mickaela, who is facing her second battle with cancer. She is just 28 years old—a devoted wife and a young mother to a beautiful 4-year-old daughter and an adorable 1-year-old son.

If you don’t know Mickaela, here is some of her story and the battle she has courageously faced over the past year.

After months of feeling that something wasn’t right following the birth of her youngest son, Mickaela came to Michigan from Oklahoma to visit us for Christmas. It quickly became clear just how sick she truly was. Although no one yet knew the cause, it was obvious something had been missed by her doctors back home, and we needed answers.

She stayed in Michigan, and on New Year’s Day 2025, we received the news no family is ever prepared to hear—it was cancer. We soon learned it was a rare pregnancy-related cancer that had already spread to her uterus, lungs, liver, and pancreas. It was Stage 4.

After eight long months of fighting—countless rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, endless lab work, injections that caused unimaginable bone pain, and frequent trips to Chicago for treatment—Mickaela rang the bell. Against all odds, she beat Stage 4 cancer.

The first year after remission is monitored very closely. For a while, things looked hopeful. But in November, her lab results began to raise concern. More tests followed. By January, the numbers were even more alarming, and PET scans along with a brain MRI were ordered.

That’s when we received the devastating news—the cancer was back, and this time it had spread to her brain.

Mickaela and her husband, Robbie, now face a long and difficult road ahead. Robbie has had to step away from his job so he can be by Mickaela's side during treatment. Insurance has denied coverage for some of the medications she urgently needs, many of which are extremely expensive. Weekly 24-hour chemotherapy treatments and ongoing travel to Chicago add even more financial strain.

We are hoping to raise funds to help ease these burdens so Mickaela can focus on what matters most—healing and beating this cancer once again.

Any amount helps. If you’re unable to donate, prayers are deeply appreciated and desperately needed. Every prayer for strength, healing, and recovery means more than we can express.

Thank you all for your love, support, and kindness.
