Support Mick in conquering the 2025 UTMB MCC (50km)
Donation protected
Our mate Mick has been invited to take on the challenge of a lifetime at the UTMB World Series Finals this August (2025).
Mick has been officially invited by UTMB to join the UTMB World Adaptive Team, competing in the MCC – a gruelling 50km mountain race through the stunning Swiss and French Alps. He will be the only Australian adaptive athlete in the field and is proudly making history as:
- The first Australian adaptive athlete in ALTRA Run Crew to represent ALTRA Running, and
- The first Endu1 Adaptive Ultra Athlete to compete on the world stage.
This is a huge honour – and a powerful recognition of Mick’s resilience, grit, and impact on the trail running community.
But for Mick, this journey is about more than personal achievement. It’s a mission – a chance to show the world that the sky is the limit, no matter what adversity life throws at you. Through his presence on the international stage, Mick hopes to inspire others to believe in what’s possible. Because just like ultra running, life is about taking one step at a time. Sometimes you don’t know exactly when you’ll get there – but if you keep moving forward, step by step, you will.
Mick is no stranger to doing the extraordinary:
- Holds two official World Records
- Completed Hyrox Melbourne, placing 2nd in the adaptive category on his very first attempt
- Led the first adaptive team to attempt the world-class GPT100, anchoring the final 33km leg — and was the only adaptive athlete to complete a full leg
- Became the first adaptive athlete to finish the brutal Oscars Hut 2 Hut Archie 50km, making all able-bodied cut-offs on crutches
- Recently debuted at Ultra-Trail Australia 50km, again making every able-bodied cut-off on crutches
- Finished both the Melbourne Marathon and Ballarat Marathon, where he achieved his world records
- Featured as an honoured guest on The Cowbell Podcast, sharing his extraordinary journey to date
Now, he's preparing to take his story global — travelling to Chamonix with a small, dedicated team by his side. Mick requires support to manage both neurological and physical conditions, which means:
An assist runner must accompany him every step of the way, carrying his medical backpack — a role requiring both strength and deep understanding of Mick’s needs
His partner Linda, a nurse, will again act as his medical crew, monitoring his condition throughout the race — even more critical in a foreign country
This team is essential for Mick to reach the finish line — and naturally, this adds to the overall cost of the journey.
How your support helps:
This fundraiser will help cover travel and accommodation expenses for Mick and his support team, so he can proudly represent Australia’s adaptive athletes and the trail running community on the world stage — with all of us behind him every step of the way.
This event will also mark the final chapter of a documentary capturing Mick’s incredible journey — from being completely broken to becoming one of the world’s most inspiring adaptive endurance athletes. A powerful story that reminds us all that giving up is not the answer.
As a token of gratitude, all donors will be included in the film credits under "Crowd Funding Supporters" when the documentary is released in 2026.
