Hi there!

My name is Michelle, my friends call me Mich. I am a single mom with a 15 year old young man and I couldn't be more proud of him!! He's a huge soccer fan and a star! He has trained since he was 5 years old and I think he could have a successful career in professional soccer. He was chosen as team captain at his highschool and is a very dedicated athlete. Good grades too, just absolutely amazing!!!

I'm from Texas and moved to Costa Rica when I was 13 with my family, thats where my parents are from. My parents divorced soon after moving and we struggled financially throughout the years but I have always been hard-working and don't let set backs bring me down, I improvise, trust God and keep going!

I've worked for the same company for 10 years, the last 5 focused on Human Resources for the most part. I graduated with an HR certification during this time and that's been my daily bread since then. In early 2023 I applied to an HR role in the US and moved here in late 2023. My son has been living with dad in Costa Rica full time and I've traveled back to see him as much as possible until I could get his paperwork processed.

I probably know what you're thinking! Being a virtual mom (temporarily) is crazy! But with my story, completely worth it if it means changing our lives for the better! His father has always been present and is a good father to my boy, praise God! We've always managed everything the modern way because we believe in fairness and sharing the responsibility in every sense.

After living here for 3 years, the plans of bringing my son have changed and I'm the one moving back. Unfortunately, I was being sexually harassed by a registered sex offender at work and had to submit an internal investigation in August, 2025. Didn't hear anything back until a week after I resigned this January, 2026, saying they were working on it.

I decided in December I needed to leave the negative energy I had been dealing with at work, had started Uber in October as a side hustle. It wasn't the first time this happened but it was the first time I spoke up and the last time I was going to deal with it while working there.

I resigned then but had already been looking for work for the past 2 years. Applying to different HR roles and other jobs types/fields as well, going through interviews and now up to 12 hr days/nights with uber, I've decided to move to Costa Rica and will be leaving in a month.

I'm still looking for work in HR and providing through Uber in the meantime. I'm trying to save as much money as I can but I am struggling, specially with the current gas prices!

I know there are so many of us needing a hand, ones more urgently than others but I thought, if I don't ask, no one will know we also need help. What have we got to loose, right? It's always been hard to ask for help because life taught me to figure it out on my own but I'm trying to learn that it's okay to be vulnerable sometimes.

I want to make my son's dreams come true! God knows I want to help him, my family and the world. I try to everyday with acts of kindness but would love to exponentiate my reach as far as this life will allow me and thats why I don't want to settle.

The money I'm tying to raise is for a sales course in an all women's academy. This will allow me to work from home and spend as much time as possible with my son once again! The full 6 month course costs 6k and I have a little over 1k. I attended one of her masterclasses last week and decided I was going to go for it. Open all sorts of channels to make this shift possible, thats why I went for this gofundme.
