James Gray, who opened his martial arts and fitness academy (Michigan Institute of Athletics) May 4th has been a leader in the start to reopen small businesses. James did not make this decision lightly, heavily researching the data behind this pandemic for the past 8 weeks he concluded it was time to reopen and give people an environment to improve their mental and physical well-being.
While the academy was forced to be closed during the start of this pandemic, James, as many other businesses have, started to accrue large amounts of debt. Being turned down for some grants and loans it has made it incredibly difficult to sustain the business during these difficult times.
For as long as I’ve known James he has always been someone to go above and beyond to help people and improve his community. He has worked with the Livingston County Juvenile Court Program, Reaching Higher, provided free Women’s self defense seminars, donated food and clothes to La Casa (a housing area for domestic abuse victims) and countless other good deeds while never asking for anything in return. I feel now is our time to give back to him.
