On June 20th, my house was affected by a serious fire that destroyed 80% of the home and the rest has severe smoke damage. I do not have renters insurance and so there are many things that will need to be replaced which I do not have the funds for.
I created this Gofundme because all of the expenses related to this tragic situation that were obviously not expected, so I do not have enough money to handle this level of recovery. I was only able to go inside for 20 min to grab immediate valuables on the day of, so I am not yet aware of the extent of overall damage yet until the insurance investigation is complete. I will update this soon.
However, based on what I saw, many items such as fabrics, mattress, silicone or just anything porous will be ruined. What is salvageable I will need to launder or have specially cleaned. Right now, I have about a weeks worth of clothes and a few pairs of shoes plus daily toiletries. Every day I’m realizing items that I did not retrieve that I need, but through this stress-fog I can’t recall everything.
Additionally, I will need to pack up and move my recovered items and furniture out which will accrue moving costs (materials, truck, labor, maybe storage).
Finally, I will need to eventually move into a new home (staying with friend currently) and that will be extra costs such as deposit etc that was not planned.
