Help Us Rebuild After the Eaton Canyon Fire
My name is Michelle Matlock I am a Altadena native and one of the victims of the Eaton canyon fire and I am reaching out for help to rebuild my life after my family and I suffered an unimaginable loss in the recent Eaton Canyon fire. The fire destroyed the home we lived in for over 40 years—a house my father, a proud veteran, purchased with his hard-earned savings after leaving the military. It wasn’t just a house; it was our family’s legacy, filled with memories of my childhood, my dad’s dedication, and the love and care he gave us all.
In a matter of moments, we lost everything. My mom, my daughter, and I were unable to save any belongings. We lost three homes, including my dad’s van, two exotic cars, and a truck. The loss of our home and personal items was devastating. My work-from-home equipment is gone, and my mom’s cherished memories—photos, heirlooms, and keepsakes—were reduced to ashes.
We are now without a permanent place to stay and are relying on hotels while trying to figure out our next steps. We need help covering basic necessities like food, shelter, and immediate living expenses while we work to rebuild our lives.
This has been a heartbreaking experience, not just for us but for so many families affected by this fire. My heart goes out to everyone who has suffered loss, and I hope we can all find support during this difficult time.
If you’re able to help, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to us. I would use the funds for food, shelter, clothes and rebuilding our home. I am a native of Altadena and would like to stay in Altadena. We are grateful for any support, prayers, or kind words as we navigate this difficult journey. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for being part of our community.
Sincerely,
Michelle Matlock
