Support Michelle's Battle Against Cancer

Dear friends, family & community,

We are humbly asking for your prayers, positive healing thoughts and support for Michelle as she embarks on the fight of her life.

Two weeks ago, feeling abnormally lightheaded and short of breath, Michelle visited a nearby emergency room while out running routine errands with her kids, and what began as a cautionary check-up abruptly turned into a nightmare.  After a whirlwind of tests and a CAT scan, Michelle was admitted into the hospital for internal bleeding which led to the discovery of a blockage in her colon.  Now in excruciating pain, Michelle underwent immediate surgery to remove several inches of her colon and biopsies of surrounding lymph nodes, after which came a very painful recovery, endless sleepless nights and the agony of waiting to hear the words we had all hoped and prayed they wouldn’t be … stage 3 colon cancer.

Thankfully the surgery was successful, but now Michelle faces a minimum of six months of chemotherapy and possibly more treatment based on the aggressiveness of this cancer.

Our beacon of hope and optimism in this battle is knowing the immense strength within Michelle and her steadfast resilience in facing and overcoming all of the hardships and adversities that have come her way in life.  So we know she will win this fight too.

But we want to help alleviate some of the stress and pressure around the impending financial burdens so she can focus her strength and energy on treatment and recovery. And this is where we could greatly use your help.

This fundraising effort is to help offset the medical expenses and hospital bills from her recent hospital stay and surgery and the still unknown medical costs to come with chemotherapy and further treatment in addition to helping with living expenses as she takes a medical leave of absence from work.

A single mother and sole provider to six incredible, thriving children, Michelle is also a beloved daughter, sister, niece, friend and just an overall extraordinary human being with the biggest heart and kindest soul.  Her devotion and commitment also extends beyond her family and personal circle to the community in whole.  She has been a registered nurse for over 20 years, caring for her patients with an incredible level of commitment and dedication.  And she was there on the front lines throughout the covid pandemic, putting the needs of the community before her own.
