Hi, I am Michelle Wilkerson’s daughter. My family, my siblings, and I are coming together to try to raise some extra money for my mom.

My mom has suffered a severe immune disorder. She has Guillain-Barré syndrome, which is a severe disorder that causes your brain to think that your body is moving when it is really not. It will take multiple treatments and lots of physical therapy to train her muscles and body to move again when her brain says to. After that, she has a very long road ahead of her. Her doctor has let us know it will take up to a year for her to be able to function properly enough to get around like she used to and work like she did. She will have to go through extensive care and lots physical therapy to fully function again.

A little back story,

Our mom was fully functional until she got sick recently with an upper respiratory infection and she woke up with weakness in her legs. The weakness quickly turned to numbness in her legs, feet, arms and torso. By Sunday, October 19th, she could barely walk because her body was so numb she couldn’t feel herself taking steps. She was admitted to Vanderbilt’s ER and had a great team of neurologists working quickly to find out what was going on to cause these debilitating symptoms. Just recently they finally figured out what was going on and, she was diagnosed with Guillian Barre syndrome and started the only treatments they have for this to try and stop the nerves from becoming further damaged and from causing her even more problems.

She has suffered significant peripheral nerve damage. And will have to work extremely hard with physical therapist, doctors, and us to be able to regain her strength in her arms and legs so that she can walk like normal again, live her life fully function-able, and regain overall strength from the deficits this has caused her. She will not be able to return to work for awhile and needs to be able to recover without the financial stress this illness has caused. (Due to her being self employed).

If you know my momma, you know she will not stay down one minute longer than she has too, but this really has forced her to slow down severely and has brought her to a stand still, And you also know she would not ask a thing from anyone and she would give her last dime to anyone if they needed it. She does so much for everyone and always takes care of us, so now we are asking for your help to take care of her. She has to cover medical bills, her house bills, and utility bills, and we are not sure how long she is going to be down.
