Emergency Support Needed for Devoted Wife, Mom & Grandma in Critical Condition
06/27/25 UPDATE:
This past week we have received more news and updates. Michelle has learned that her 3-day per week kidney dialysis is now permanent. Saddened by this news, the family is taking it a step at a time to ensure she receives the care she needs. We are still waiting for transport to be setup to get her to dialysis at 5:30am and back home after 9:00am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On top of that, the family has setup cardiac rehab at 3:00pm every Monday and Wednesday for Michelle. As you can imagine, the transport, support and in-home care has become a full-time job. Michelle and Ron are still seeking financial support during these hard times and rough transitions. With Ron working full-time to barely make ends meet and trying to be the caregiver to his wife as much as possible, and Michelle’s daughters taking turns providing transportation and in-home care all while taking care of their own children, households, jobs and education… the family is struggling. If you have it in your heart to donate towards Michelle’s crisis, it would be beyond appreciated, and if you are unable to donate then simply sharing her GoFundMe page is such a kind gesture and does not go unnoticed!
06/06/25 UPDATE:
After 11 days in the hospital, 5 dialysis days, countless IVs and blood draws, a diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure, Severe Kidney Disease, 2 cath procedures that resulted in stents being put in on both sides of her heart… Michelle’s oldest daughter was able to transport her home yesterday 06/05! She is glad to be home and ready to start tackling these lifestyle changes and recurring appointments for dialysis and her heart condition. She had dialysis at her regular location today and is back home resting! Going forward the family is working together transporting her back and forth 3X a week for dialysis, but are still looking to find transport since there is a good chance this could become permanent. She has follow-up appointments with the cardiologist team at DePaul in St Louis scheduled as well. The family has also considered Meals on Wheels or some other program that could bring a meal to her in the evenings as her husband is going back to work second shift. Michelle’s care has quickly become, at minimum, a part-time job that the family is juggling the best they can! We are still trying to reduce the financial burden that will come from everything involved, as well as the stress of the financial burden on Ron working to provide a safe home for them.
I want to say THANK YOU AGAIN, to all of those who have showed up, shown loved, expressed concern, said prayers, made donations, shared Michelle’s story or even simply took a minute to think of her during your busy life. It means so much to the family to see a community come together in a time of need! Thank you all!
We’re reaching out during a time of deep crisis—for a woman who’s always stood strong for her family, and now needs us to stand with her.
On Monday, May 26, our mother, wife, and grandmother, Michelle Turner—just 56 years old—was rushed to the ER by ambulance after struggling to breathe. Later that day she was transferred and admitted to DePaul Hospital in St. Louis where test results, labs and scans revealed devastating news: dangerously high blood pressure, out-of-control blood sugars, kidney failure, an enlarged heart, and multiple other complications. She is currently in critical condition. This morning, Wednesday, May 28, she had a central line placed to undergo emergency dialysis.
Doctors have stated that three full rounds of dialysis are needed before they can even begin addressing her heart. There is also strong concern about the possibility of breast cancer, which will be investigated once her immediate condition is stable.
This is a woman who has worked hard her entire life. She spent 25+ years at Quad Graphics, and nearly half that time working a second job to help provide for her family. She worked until the plant shut down in December 2023, and since then has been trying to get back on her feet. Her husband—earning minimum wage—is doing everything he can to keep things afloat, but the financial strain is now overwhelming.
She is the heartbeat of our family. A mother to four. A grandmother to eleven. A woman who never asked for help but gave it freely.
Her husband and daughters are by her side daily, taking unpaid time off, paying for lodging to remain near the hospital, and covering travel and daily expenses—on top of managing their own bills and homes. Her care will require ongoing dialysis (likely permanent), cardiology, nephrology, pulmonology, oncology, and vision care, not to mention home assistance and long-term care planning once she returns home.
We’ve set a modest goal of $12,000, which would help offset:
3 months of household expenses ($3,000/month)
An additional $1,000/month in projected medical, travel, and caregiving expenses
We are also actively exploring every available assistance program and long-term option. This campaign is intended to bridge the urgent gap between crisis and stability.
We know times are hard for many, so even sharing this page means the world. If you’ve ever known someone who gave all they had without complaint… this is her.
Thank you for standing with our family during this time. Your support means everything.
