Hello, my name is Michelle Rickard. I am a nail technician in Jefferson City, TN. I usually work 12-15 hours a day, 5 days a week. I love what I do and I love my clients.
On 1/25/25, after a 56-hour work week, I came home and changed into a birthday party costume for my 70-year-old client who was having a 70's themed birthday party. I was running late as it took longer with my last client than I thought it would. So, I had her gift in my right hand, and that cute little kitty was running away from another cat. They both ran under my feet, causing my already fast-paced feet to stumble. As I tried to catch myself, I caused my left arm to hyperextend over my head to the left side. A loud pop occurred as I passed the threshold of our gate and proceeded to fall. As I collected myself, my arm was numb and wouldn't move. I didn't make it to her party and already had a doctor's appointment scheduled for a check-up.
X-rays later showed some bulging of discs and some deterioration. Therapy was scheduled, and a request for an MRI was denied three times. The therapist doesn't know if it's a pinched nerve or a bruised nerve. I have had some movement come back, but it is still numb, and as it gets tired, my hand will do its own thing. I had a little over a month's bills put back, but now I'm out of money. A few clients have given me some money, which has been used for therapy, doctor's appointments, and testing as I hadn't hit my deductible yet.
I have worked so hard the last few years to try to get out of debt, and now I'm starting to build that debt up again. What took years to pay off has taken just weeks to build up again. I feel hopeless and like my world is spinning. Will I be able to go back to work? And when I do, what will I be able to do? I have prayed, thought about it, and have swallowed my pride to ask for help. Anything will and can help me. If you can donate, thank you! If you can't, please pray for healing and peace. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read and consider donating to help me get back to work.
