Support Michelle Gardner's Heart Recovery

My name is Turea, and I am one of Michelle Gardner's daughters. My poor sweet mother unfortunately was suddenly and unexpectedly rushed by ambulance Sunday and admitted into the hospital in ICU. She is having issues with her heart, she had lost use of her legs, and was also having seizures, leaving her very confused and out of it for long periods of time. It came completely out of nowhere. They did numerous tests and procedures, to really still be left without answers on a lot of the situation. She is slowly learning to walk again with a walker and assistance from physical therapy. She has been hospitalized for 4 days now. Procedures she had done indicate the issues with her heart is called "cardiomyopathy"; in most cases, it is caused by significant stress. Also known as "broken heart syndrome," her heart is pumping very slowly, and her heart is stressed. The muscles around her heart are very weak, causing heart attack-like symptoms.

My mom goes above and beyond for anyone she can whenever she is able to. She will be off work for quite some time. Once she is able to come home, she will have to have a lot of therapy done at home to continue to work with her and get her stronger. My mom is a very strong-willed person, and this setback and her not being able to do everyday things is really getting to her. She needs as little stress as possible during this healing time (and hopefully going forward to keep her staying healthy). Her not being able to work is putting a huge burden on her and causing stress she doesn't need. My dad also has been laid off his job of 21 years for some time now. His unemployment is close to being exhausted.

I'm asking for us all to come together and try to raise money to help them get through these terrible times. We need to try to help as much as we can to keep my mom from being under so much stress and pressure. She also only is covered under Medicare, which won't even come close to covering her unexpected hospital stay or ongoing medical bills. On top of daily life and everyday bills, it's only causing her more stress. We need her to get better and not have to worry about the things out of her control. I'm hoping that's where we can all come together and take some of the stress and worry off of her. Any little bit helps. We understand times are tough for most people right now, but it all adds up and would be greatly appreciated. Even if you aren't able to donate, please share.
