Support Michelle Fountain's care for her brother

Gurl! If this warm greeting, delivered in a low southern drawl, sounds familiar then you're lucky to know Michelle Fountain. Maybe you met her at an art industry event or attended a lively alcohol inks class she taught. Possibly she painted your house in a lovely decorative finish or you worship with Michelle on Sunday. If you haven't spent time in person, you know her on social media as the woman who rescued and rehabilitated a beautiful German Shepherd named Heidi. These are the many hats worn by Michelle. Self-employed artist. Dog Mom. Church Member. Friend. And sister. This last important role has lead, unexpectantly, to her new most challenging job: Caregiver.
Michelle is the only family for her brother Chris, who has suffered a catastrophic health emergency. After 5 weeks in the hospital, including time in the ICU, Chris is not able to care for himself. With no insurance, current denial of long-term care assistance, and the ultimate need for a liver transplant, there are few options for him. Michelle will provide a home. Advocate for his future care. And shoulder the responsibility of his daily life. This is what a sister does for her brother.
But she doesn't have to do it alone. I attended Michelle's first alcohol inks class at Art Fusion and was charmed. When my husband Bruce died, she reached out offering to create a special piece of art with his ashes. No charge. My co-sponsor for this fund raiser Karla Quesenberry, also bonded with Michelle during painting classes. Karla lost her beloved son Alec to a brain tumor. She and I are in a sisterhood that understands the emotional, physical, and financial responsibility of caring for a loved one. Especially difficult for the self-employed. Michelle is now joining us. Karla and I also know the power of family and friends to help carry such a great weight. This is why we are inviting you to help our fellow sister.
Any amount you give will help Michelle get the things she needs for her brother to aid in every day activities from walking to eating and bathing. Michelle's expenses don't stop once Chris moves in. She will have to work. Your gift helps with in-home care while she is earning a living.
This time of year reminds us of family bonds and the promise of hope. Let's join together, lift her up, and tell Michelle, "We love you Gurl." Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating.
