Michelle is a U.S. citizen and a devoted mother of two young children. Recently, she was detained by ICE during an incident involving her husband in Asbury Park NJ, at the intersection of Bangs Avenue and Main Street.

What started as her trying to reach him turned into a traumatic situation—she was taken to the ground, injured, and handcuffed in front of her children.

Her kids, ages 9 and 1, witnessed everything. Since then, they have been scared and struggling to understand what happened. Michelle was later released, but her husband remains detained, leaving her to care for their children on her own.

Michelle has been a stay-at-home mom, and this situation has put her in an incredibly difficult place both emotionally and financially. Right now, she is doing everything she can to stay strong for her children while also trying to reunite her family.
