My mother, Michele, is the heart of our family a woman of strength, love, and resilience. Recently, she faced one of the hardest battles of her life: a 13-hour brain surgery to remove a tumor that had grown to the size of a tangerine. The surgery was a monumental step in her journey toward recovery, but it has been an emotionally and physically exhausting experience for all of us. After spending a week in the hospital, she was able to come home, and we held onto hope as she began to regain her strength. But life had another challenge in store—last weekend, she was airlifted back to Ann Arbor due to a serious infection, a heartbreaking setback in her fight to heal.
Through it all, my dad, James, has sacrificed so much to stay by her side, ensuring she feels loved and supported during this unimaginably difficult time. Because the hospital is over two hours away from their home, he has been staying in a nearby hotel, traveling back and forth, and putting every ounce of his energy into caring for her. The cost of lodging, gas, and food has been overwhelming, and with my dad unable to work while caring for my mom, their financial situation has become increasingly dire.
The weight of this crisis is heavy. Bills are piling up, medical expenses, everyday living costs, and the additional burden of travel and temporary housing. The stress of managing all of this while focusing on my mom’s recovery is taking a toll on both of my parents. They’ve always been so strong and self-reliant, but this situation has pushed them to their limits. It’s heartbreaking to see them carry this burden alone.
I’m reaching out because I want to do everything I can to help them through this incredibly difficult time. They’ve always been there for me, and now I want to be there for them. I’m asking for your help, not just for my mom and dad, but for our entire family, as we navigate this challenging chapter in our lives. Your support, whether through donations, sharing our story, or simply sending prayers and good thoughts, would mean the world to us.
