Michele, my mother, recently underwent a life-changing amputation of her left leg below the knee. After 56 years of independence, she is now facing the immense challenge of adjusting to life with limited mobility, compounded by additional health complications like blood clots, effractions, and occlusions. Since her surgery on 2/28/2026 and her release from the hospital on 3/17/2026, she has been confined to bed, relying on a donated wheelchair and the support of her family from afar.

As her oldest daughter, I am doing everything I can to help from Las Vegas, even though I am four hours away. The transition home has been overwhelming. Michele was discharged with almost no supplies, so I have been providing essentials like a shower chair, bedside commode, wheelchair cushion, rolled gauze, gloves, and saline spray for wound care. Despite my role as her IHSS provider, the costs of rent, utilities, groceries, and gas are making it nearly impossible to keep up with monthly bills. We are struggling to make ends meet while ensuring Michele has what she needs to recover safely and comfortably.
