Unexpected medical bills threaten the stability and security of many people, like my friend, Michele Woody. Born in Mishawaka, IN, Michele has been caring for this community her whole life. For the last twenty years, Michele has been an essential part of Good Shepherd Montessori School. Her expertise in the kitchen transforms produce from our school’s urban farm into delicious, nourishing meals for Good Shepherd students everyday. In a world which increasingly relies on processed, fast food, Michele teaches our students how to enjoy and prepare a diverse menu of economical, and nutritious foods. Here is a slice of Michele creating her magic. https://youtu.be/DOpMRhITWjg?si=XtI3s2MQ9RfZ5aFY
This summer, during scheduled surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm, her medical team realized that one of Michele’s heart valves needed to be replaced immediately. Thankfully, the surgeons were able to handle the transplant, and Michele did not have to undergo a second open-heart operation. Michele is now recovering and will go on to bless all of us with her amazing talents for years to come. She is facing, however, unexpected bills as a result of this medical intervention. Please help lighten Michele’s stress by contributing what you can to help her pay off these medical expenses.
