I'm a stay-at-home mom of 4 children, only 2 still at home and in school. My husband, Michael, has had cataracts in both eyes for about 5 years now. We were finally able to get him the much-needed surgery. Two weeks before the first surgery, he started having a dark spot in the corner of his left eye. He thought maybe he was developing tunnel vision from the cataracts. The doctor said we should do the surgeries and then, if the issue was still a problem, address it afterward. He had the first surgery on Oct 14th, but the black area was still there. By the 17th, it was covering half his line of sight. We saw our regular eye doctor, and he took pictures, etc. It turns out he has a vitreous detachment. Not a major issue, more of an annoyance. That evening, his entire line of sight was covered. The right eye surgery was on Oct 22, and all went well. We went in on Oct 23 for his follow-up, and the surgeon checked both eyes again. Upon looking at his left eye, he not only has a vitreous detachment but also a retinal detachment. Retinal surgery is being set up.
Now, the reason for the GoFundMe is: he has been unable to drive since the first surgery due to still having a cataract in his right eye and the issue in his left eye. Therefore, he has been unable to work since Oct 14 and will not be able to until after the retinal surgery. While the retinal surgery is going to be paid for, we have to travel to Oklahoma City for it. Our money is depleted, and with Michael unable to work, we have no money for bills, food, gas for the trips to OKC, and hotel expenses. They consider this an emergency event because the longer he waits to get surgery, the more permanent the damage can be, with a potential of blindness. Any help financially and/or prayers is greatly appreciated. Ultimately, we know it is in God's hands and His will shall be done.
