Support Michael's Recovery Journey Together

To the friends and family of Michael Fricke:

On Saturday, August 31st, Michael was spending his early afternoon doing what he loves the most - biking outdoors. Unfortunately, during his regular bike ride, Michael was involved in a serious bicycling accident resulting in emergency spinal fusion surgery. Michael remains in the hospital, now in his fifth week of recovery. As you can imagine, this traumatic event has turned our world upside down. Although Michael has made significant gains in mobility, he faces a long and challenging recovery.

Our family is beginning to prepare for Michael’s hospital discharge, and this presents new problems in our lives. Our house will require modifications in order to make it accessible for Michael to use a wheelchair and walker.

This part is tough to write since Michael and I are proud, hard-working people. One of my co-workers reminded me that in life there is a time to give help, and a time to receive help. Our family is in need of financial support because we are not able to pay for the current and future expenses brought on by Michael’s accident and lengthy recovery, and our insurance will only cover so much.
