Hi this is Amy, my brother Michael is experiencing an unexpected lengthy hospitalization after being bitten by an insect. He is being treated for MRSA. Luckily Michael was smart enough to seek medical attention early (within two days of being bitten). His infection spread quickly, doctors are still shaking their heads and cannot put their finger on anything definitive. What we do know is, the infection could of been deadly if he hadn't acted quickly to keep this infection isolated from his blood stream.
Doctors say Michael will be hospitalized for days more, at least, until it's under control.
Michael has been hospitalized since Monday and receiving the strongest IV Antibiotics available, around the clock. We still are no closer to knowing a release date, but it is safe to say he has weeks of recovery ahead. And bills do not wait. I know he values his credit score and is working hard to become debt fee so he can enjoy life more in the years to come.
His stubborn pride won't allow him to ask for help, because in his mind he will recover. The truth is he's already $1500 behind with bills and lost wages. His dog has cancer and in two weeks needs another evaluation and Palladia refill. That bill alone is another $1300. When allowed, Michael will return to work with light duty restrictions for 2-3 weeks. The only issue with that is, as a trucker for Waste Management, his position does not offer light duty, and he is out of PTO from an unexpected surgery in March.
As you all know Michael prides himself on being self sufficient. In the past 20 years he has never asked to borrow money from me or anyone else that I can think of. I know he's taken loans with the help of his parents and his Brother PJ, and paid them off years ago.
So I'm asking you to help me, help Michael. Just enough so Michael is not further buried in debt when he is finally released. I know he won't take charity. And I know our love and support is going to make him cry. Sorry brother, you need this. So sit back and take it like a man. We got you.
Michel truly is deserving. I know he's faced and overcome many challenges in the past. This past few years alone he's overcome a lot single. He's remained stable and self sufficient through divorce, interim relationship, Hemingway's chemotherapy since October, and I'm proud of him for quitting smoking, quiting liquor, and he's never been into drugs. Michael became a trucker for stability after years of a waxing and waning mortgage market proved unstable for him. Yet he keeps his license active in case any of us need his help. Raise you hand if Michael helped you buy your home against all odds? Because that's what he does.
Michael helped me and my family buy our first home when everyone else told us we didn't qualify.
What did Michael do, he said they're right. You don't qualify, but I can help you qualify. Michael helped me build credit, find down-payment assistance and with only our stable jobs, we bought our first home.
Owning that home led my child to graduating college and Michael helping them buy their first home.
Let's help Michael now that he's up against a wall. I can think of few people who are as worthy of a little help.
Thank you in advance... for helping me hold my brother (from another mother) up and out of ruin.
