At any moment, my phone could ring…
And when it does, my son’s life will change forever.
Right now, we are living in a “wait-and-call” moment that no parent is ever truly prepared for.
My son, Michael, is a student-athlete at Langston University, and football isn’t just something he plays — it’s who he is. It’s his passion, his drive, his purpose. He has worked hard to get where he is, and everything he’s built is tied to the game he loves.
But right now… everything is on pause.
Michael is in need of a knee transplant (osteochondral allograft). This isn’t a routine surgery — it requires a donor graft from a deceased individual. That means we are literally waiting for a call that could come at any time within the next few weeks… and when it comes, everything will move fast. Surgery will be immediate.
As a mother, there are no words to explain what it feels like to wait for a moment like this. To know your child’s future is tied to a phone call you can’t control.
The good news is that doctors expect Michael to make a full recovery with proper surgery and rehabilitation. This procedure will give him the chance to get back on the field, to run again, to compete again, and to continue chasing his dreams.
But the reality is… this journey comes with a heavy financial burden.
We are asking for help to cover:
Co-insurance and deductible costs
Out-of-pocket medical expenses
Post-surgery rehabilitation and recovery
A specialized recovery and performance machine that is NOT covered by insurance but is critical for his healing and return to football
We don’t know exactly when the call will come… we just know we have to be ready when it does.
Right now, we are taking things day by day, staying strong, and holding onto faith. If you know Michael, you know his heart, his work ethic, and how much this means to him.
If you can support us in any way — whether it’s donating, sharing, or praying — it truly means everything to our family.
We’re not just fighting for his health…
We’re fighting to get him back to the game he loves.
We’re trusting God with the timing… but asking for help with everything else.
Thank you for standing with us during one of the most uncertain and challenging times of our lives
