Support Michael's Heart Transplant Recovery
Donation protected
Thank you so much for the love, support, and prayers you’ve sent our way. We’ve received so many messages asking how Michael is doing, and we want to share an update—and invite you to be part of this next chapter in his journey.
This week, Michael underwent a successful heart transplant after a long and courageous fight with congenital heart disease. He was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a condition that required a series of surgeries starting when he was just a newborn. Over the years, he’s had six open-heart surgeries, each one giving him more time—but also creating more challenges.
This most recent surgery was long and complex, lasting over 10 hours. The surgical team had to carefully work around old scar tissue, remove a pacemaker, and make adjustments so the new heart would function with his unique anatomy. It was a big moment for Michael—and one we’ve been hoping and praying for since he was listed for transplant nearly 8 months ago.
Since surgery, Michael’s been recovering in the Cardiac ICU. There have been some expected hurdles—like needing temporary support for his new heart to communicate with his body, and finding the right balance of medications—but he’s already starting to show signs of progress. As of Thursday, he began responding with nods and thumbs up, which was an amazing and emotional moment for all of us.
Michael’s journey to this point has been filled with resilience. Over the past few years, as his heart function declined, he dealt with chronic pain, fatigue, and couldn’t attend school or enjoy life the way other kids do. Now, with a new heart and new hope, we’re looking ahead to brighter days.
We’re incredibly grateful for the donor family who made this gift possible, for the medical team caring for him every step of the way, and for everyone who has lifted him up in prayer and encouragement. We truly believe Michael has a strong future ahead.
We’ve started this GoFundMe to help cover some of the costs that come with transplant recovery, including:
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Travel, food, and lodging for family during his hospital stay
• Recovery supplies, medications, and long-term care
• Missed work and general household needs during this time
If you feel moved to donate, we are deeply grateful. If not, simply sharing or keeping Michael in your thoughts and prayers is just as appreciated.
Thank you for being part of Michael’s story. His journey isn’t over—but it’s moving in the right direction.
