Support Michael's Fight Against Pancreatic Tumor
Donation protected
Michael Callanan has been, and still is a source of laughter and joy, inspiration, tenacity, strength and courage for so many people, including myself. As his younger brother I have looked out for him my whole life as he has done for me. I we are extremely close. Together we have endured life with cystic fibrosis, CF related diabetes, and other physical and mental challenges that have required immeasurable strength and courage.
Since Mike’s issue began with internal bleeding in late 2022, I have watched and supported his fight to receive the procedures and care that could have appropriate address this much earlier on.
On May 9, 2024 the stricture Mike had in his duodenum became a full blockage and he could no longer keep food or liquid down. Since that day, he has lost more than half of his body mass with little to no nutritional input.
On May 22, 2024 Michael was finally referred to and seen by Memorial Sloan Kettering in Montvale NJ, and then admitted in NYC. He was immediately diagnosed with a large tumor on his pancreas that pressed the duodenum to be closed off, and advanced to also pressed the bile drainage of the liver causing consistently high bile (bilirubin) levels. Those levels must be below 2 to be eligible for chemo, and have been lingering around twenty for over a month.
The bile drainage and need for nutritional calories are both top priorities.
Our mother and I have been making daily trips into NYC to be at his side everyday for a month, which has been costly at $100-150 per day between tolls, gas, meals and most of all, lots and lots of coffee
There is still a long road ahead of us, and the ability to be by Mikes side is, and continues to be essential to him. Your help with these expenses will enable our ongoing family support of his fight, our fight.
