Hello everyone, I am Margie, mother to 2 amazing sons. My oldest son, Michael, is facing the biggest battle of his life. He, unfortunately, has had his share of battles to go through, from chronic asthma and scarlet fever as a child, to Ulcerative Colitis at 16, kidney failure at 33 with dialysis for 5 years, to receiving a donor kidney transplant at 38 (a gift from a 5-year-old who got his wings), to shingles in his 40s, hospitalized for COVID in May 2020, a fractured T12 at work, and a broken femur. The worst of all, he now has Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma discovered from a fall and broken femur. He had his femur repaired, his 2 old kidneys removed full of cancer, and after many doctor appointments, they could not repair his T12 fracture because his cancer had spread to his spine with multiple tumors.
After our first visit to the oncologist, he was given his biggest blow: his cancer was terminal, and that is the worst diagnosis you can get. He is a father to an amazing, loving, and smart son, Brayden, who just turned 12 on April 3rd. His ex-wife is his best friend. Most people say that their child is the best child ever; maybe that is true, but I can tell you that I raised an amazing, smart, loving, caring, humble, faithful, and peaceful son. Never submitting to life's awful things like drugs, alcohol, smoking, or crime. Despite all his trials and tribulations, he got his Bachelor's degree in education. He always loved kids and was great at socializing with them. His son adores him, and he immensely adores his son.
This battle has made his body weak. He cannot sit for more than 5 minutes, stand for more than 5 minutes, and is mostly in bed, getting up only for bathroom breaks. I have become his caregiver again, and I am glad God has given me that privilege and opportunity to do that. Despite the fact that I too am ill, I am where I am supposed to be. He lives in Virginia, and our hope is to medically transport him to Florida to my home as soon as possible so he can be near his brother, sister-in-law, niece, and the rest of the family and continue treatment there.
On May 1st is his 47th birthday, and my hope and prayer is that we can celebrate another one. Please, if you can and would like to donate, any amount is great. Michael, I, and his family will be truly grateful and humbled by your kindness. Thank you, God, for giving me 47 years with Michael, who made me a mother—the best privilege ever. Love, blessings, and peace to all. Thank you for your kindness.
