Support Michael's Battle Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected

Nearly 4 years ago, I came to Canaan Valley and started running Mountain Trail Rides. Along with that, I met a lot of wonderful people. One of which was the farrier. Unbeknownst to me, his family would become some of my very best friends, and have actually become like my family. Bennie and Martha live in a small community in Springs, PA. Together they have 4 children, Tilly, John, Laura & Michael.
Recently their youngest child, “Little Michael” as we like to call him, was diagnosed with brain cancer (specifically low-grade glioma of the optic nerve). Yesterday was his first chemo treatment and as of right now, they plan to continue chemo for one year. These folks have been here for me on my best and worst days. From daylight to dark, they would give me, or any other stranger, all they had if it meant they made someone else smile. They are the most humble and absolute selfless people I’ve ever met. So much so, they would never ask for anything in the time of need, and rightfully so, I believe that is now.
I woke up this morning compelled to start a fundraiser for them, although they would never ask for anything. I know that if my child were sick, traveling back and forth to Pittsburgh, financially I would be overwhelmed with added stress. To relieve this burden, I have decided to start a fundraiser so they can focus on getting Michael to treatment without worry of what they face financially. Times are already tough for families, if you can donate, it is very much appreciated. If you can’t, please pray for them and share this post.
