Hello! My name is Jamie. I’m starting this GoFundMe for one of my really great friends, Michaela.

Michaela is one of my former co-workers from Neopets, where she was the Chief Marketing Officer, and she is genuinely one of the most self-motivated, influential, and hardworking people I have ever met. I learn so much from her every day, and any time I get the chance to work alongside her on projects, I’m reminded how deeply she cares about people, ideas, and building things that actually matter.

Michaela is not just supporting herself.

She is the only caretaker and source of financial support for her family. She has a beautiful almost 2-year-old daughter, Sadie, who is currently undergoing testing for a genetic condition and also has a feeding disorder. Michaela is also caring for her mom, who is sick with a complex autoimmune illness.

The job market has dried up, bills have piled up, and she has fallen on really hard times. She is currently facing multiple shutoff notices, overwhelming medical bills, maxed out credit cards, debt collectors, and has nothing for May rent. She has been going to food banks just to get by.

And because of the debt, credit issues, and lack of current employment to show a potential landlord, she does not really have anywhere else to go.

It hurts me so much to watch someone who works this hard, pulls all-nighters, cares for everyone around her, and still shows up every day with so much heart, struggle this much just to keep a roof over her family’s head.

Michaela is not someone who gives up. She is not someone who sits around waiting for things to happen. She is constantly working, constantly trying, constantly taking care of everyone else, and constantly doing everything she can to move forward. But right now, she needs help.

Any donation, big or small, would go directly toward keeping her and her family housed, keeping utilities on, helping with basic living expenses, and giving her a little breathing room while she continues looking for work, taking on marketing projects, caring for her daughter and mom, and building something that means so much to so many women.
