Help me with vet bills after Draco’s passing

My fur baby Draco unexpectedly passed away on 10/26/25 from a blood clot. He was my first pet, and I was so lucky to have him while I did. He was my best friend. I am a single woman and have been for the last 8 years. I got him to cure the void I had in my heart, and he did just that. To lose him out of nowhere has been so incredibly devastating.
The vet bill was $998.
They take cash or credit, which I didn’t have either of. I applied for their two credit cards and got denied—knowing I would, but tried anyway. We decided the best option was to take him home in a box and put him in the freezer for the night until I could go to my regular vet to have him cremated there, as we know (or thought) it was cheaper from a past pet passing. That was absolutely horrible for me, but I had no other choice. I brought him in the next morning to find their prices went up, and to cremate him will be $242. Actually, more expensive than what the vet wanted.
I owe the emergency vet about $650, which I’m doing a payment plan of $60 a month for the next year. I’ll pay more if and when I can, but to think I’ll have to be paying for this for the next year is something I really don’t want to do.
And now the $242 I owe when they call me to tell me his ashes are ready to be picked up.
My entire family struggles financially, and I’m at the point where I really need help from anybody that can. I’m moving, will be out of work for a little while, and I’m already behind on almost all of my bills.
Anything helps. Thank you.
