Our lives changed recently when our dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The news hit our family hard, but anyone who knows our dad knows he is not someone to sit on the sidelines of life. He is determined to meet this fight head on, and we are rallying together to ensure he has the resources, stability, and care he needs to beat it.

Who Our Dad Is

Our dad has always lived life to the fullest. He is at his best out in the world, whether that is catching an early morning sunrise, walking the dogs through Wickham Park, relaxing by the beach, or taking in the loud race days at Daytona and the Gatornationals. Over the years, he made a great group of loyal friends simply by showing up, loving life, and sharing his talents. He puts his whole heart into everything he does, from pool and darts to his work and his home cooking.

More than anything, he is the steady anchor of our family and our greatest champion.

For Maddox, Dad has been an amazing guide in navigating life with autism. He introduced Maddox to darts, giving him a sport that brought focus, confidence, and a great community where he truly belongs. Maddox still needs his dad, his coach, and his best friend in his corner.

For Blake, Dad has always been a constant source of encouragement. Whenever the path ahead felt unclear, a conversation with Dad brought things into focus. He taught Blake to look at the world differently, explore new ideas, and build new dreams. With sharp wit, strong will, and pure determination, Dad shows what it means to keep moving forward and see opportunity. Having Dad around gives Blake the confidence to trust himself and chase what matters most.

Seeing a man with that kind of vitality brought to a sudden halt has been heartbreaking. The esophageal tumor is causing severe, constant pain that radiates from his chest straight through to his back, making it impossible for him to swallow food or liquids.

Because he was unable to eat, he recently had a feeding port placed so he can receive complete, essential medical nutrition to keep his strength up. Our medical focus is clear: undergo an upcoming PET scan to finalize his staging, shrink this tumor through aggressive chemotherapy, relieve the radiating pain, and get him back to eating real meals and living the life he loves.
