We are starting a fundraiser for Michael Ritzel, a wonderful person who has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Including life-saving surgeries, months of rehab and therapy and eventually prosthetics. As some of you may know, Michael was in a horrific motorcycle accident in NY that left him with the loss of his left leg and right arm and road rash across his body which has caused him to need skin grafts in those areas. He also lost his toes on his right foot, crushed the heel and the ankle and the foot must be completely reconstructed. He will have a halo guard surgically placed for the next 4-6 months and countless other surgeries. Fortunately, he was wearing his helmet so there was no head or brain injuries. He was a truck driver and due to the accident and loss of his limbs, he will never be able to return to his job. Since this was in NY and he is a FL resident, getting the insurance and funds needed for these massive bills has been a huge struggle. Our goal is for him to be able to recover peacefully without the anxiety of how these bills will get paid. His family has been by his side throughout this entire ordeal and doing everything they can for him at this time and going back and forth from FL to NY to be by his side. He would like to be transferred back to FL as soon as possible and continue his care at a hospital here in FL where he can be surrounded by family and friends. Michael is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket. He and his family would do anything for others and always have in any time of need. He has a very long road ahead of him and anything you can donate is GREATLY appreciated by Michael and his family. Thank you so much!
