Hello,
I am a community leader who has dedicated my life to serving others. For many years, I've worked with neighbors, local organizations, and the faith community to advance social justice, human rights, and equitable communities.
In 2024, I was elected Democratic Committeeperson for Chicago’s 45th ward, an unpaid, public service role focused on sustaining our democracy and mobilizing grassroots political engagement.
In October 2025 I was indicted, along with five others, by the Trump Justice Department on federal charges after exercising my First Amendment rights protesting the unjust and inhumane conditions at the ICE Facility in Broadview, IL.
As the son of an immigrant, I was proud to fight for the human dignity and rights of immigrants, here in Chicago and everywhere.
Although my case was recently dismissed, just 5 days before trial, the legal fees I've incurred to defend myself over the past 7 months and prepare for trial have been substantial (approaching $200K). I need your help to cover these costs.
I ask for your generous donation, which is considered a gift, with nothing expected in return (goods, services, or political activity), that will be used exclusively for my legal defense fund.
I would also appreciate you sharing the GoFundMe link with others to spread the word. I’m grateful for your support.
Michael Rabbitt
