Michael Pike recently endured a life-changing accident while repairing a garage door. The bracket holding the springs suddenly came loose, sending a sharp piece of galvanized steel spinning into his left arm and severing several arteries. Alone and losing blood rapidly, Michael managed to use his belt as a tourniquet and made his way toward the road, desperately calling for help. Thankfully, neighbors Dan and Amy Goehler heard his cries and rushed to his side, calling 911 and tending to him until the ambulance arrived. Michael was medivaced first to Harbor Springs and then to McClaren Hospital in Petoskey, where he received emergency care. The severity of his injury meant he was cut clear to the bone, and it was touch and go for a while as he fought to stay conscious.
Now, Michael faces a long and difficult road to recovery. The accident has left him with enormous medical bills, including costly air transport and hospital expenses. On top of that, Michael is unable to work while he heals, making it nearly impossible to cover these unexpected costs. Richard is organizing this fundraiser on Michael’s behalf to help ease the financial burden and give him the support he needs to focus on getting better.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for Michael as he works to regain his health and independence. Thank you for your consideration and kindness during this challenging time.
