My name is Janet Owens, and I am the mother of Michael Owens. On December 1, 2025, our lives changed forever when Michael attempted to take his own life. Although he survived, the injuries he sustained were devastating. The bullet left him with broken facial bones, and he now has a bolt monitor in his head to track swelling. Once the swelling goes down, his jaw will be wired, and he will need a tracheostomy and a feeding tube to help him heal. We learned on December 8, 2025, that Michael will require long-term care, and he will never be the same person he was before.
Michael is a loving son and a devoted dog owner. His dog Honomie means the world to him, and she recently had a litter of puppies. Michael is keeping one of her pups, and we hope to make Honomie his emotional support dog to help him through this difficult journey. As his primary caregiver, my ability to work has become very limited, and our family is struggling to cover medical bills, therapy, counseling for his siblings. We will need help getting Michael's dog Honomie all her shots and paperwork so she can be there for Michael as his service dog.
I never imagined I would be asking for help, but our family is facing challenges we cannot overcome alone. Any support you can offer will make a difference in Michael's recovery and our ability to care for him and his siblings. Thank you for reading our story and for considering a donation to help Michael and our family.
