Support Michael Oliveros' Life-Changing Surgery

My name is Michael Oliveros, and I’m raising funds to cover the cost of surgery and the follow up care.

A few years ago I had cancer, and ever since I’ve had lots of complications and other health issues crop up. Recently I finally got some more clarity on what’s going on, and a surgery that I need that will give me relief from constant and oftentimes intense pain and discomfort I’ve been living with for the past couple of years. However, this health journey has been a financial strain, with the cost of appointments combined with the fact that the pain has made it difficult to work full time. So when I got the bill of what I will owe for surgery, it was quite the financial shock.

And so any donation will go towards the cost of surgery, and the cost of follow up appointments and care.

This is huge to me. I have lived with pain for so long I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be pain free, and I would like to know what that’s like again. There’s so much I want to do that pain has made quite difficult. And not just for me. I want to give back, so to speak, through a project I’ve been working on for years now, that I was inspired to do since my cancer journey. It is an animated show—that will have other components to it in addition to the show—that is essentially for people going through cancer. And I have so much planned for it, and so much I want to do with it, and ultimately once it’s off the ground my goal is to set up a fund from a chunk of the profits of the project to support people financially on their cancer journeys.

I'm excited at the prospect of having the energy to put more time and energy into not only that project but other life goals of mine! I have so many stories I want to write, and so much I want to do and enjoy that I've not been able to with the chronic pain I'm in!
