Support Michael Matheny's Transplant Journey

Join us in helping The Matheny's as they navigate Michael's medical journey towards a transplant.
Last year, Michael was diagnosed with a clogged bile duct and damaged liver. Doctors said he would need a multivisceral transplant, meaning multiple abdominal organs get transplanted at the same time. Very few hospitals do this type of surgery and referrals and insurance clearances were needed. Mike was recently paired with the Cleveland Clinic. Finally, the evaluation process could begin and they scheduled appointments and travel.
In the interim, the Clinic worked with Emory and felt a TIPS procedure to connect the veins in his liver might reduce his need to a liver transplant only. Safer surgery and best case scenario. On August 13, Mike had the six-hour procedure and this week he and Agnes traveled to Ohio, thinking they'd be there several days. Unfortunately, Mike's health declined and he was hospitalized when he arrived and placed in the ICU on a ventilator. His medical team met today and also worked to clear the blockages with several more procedures. Until he is released, he cannot be evaluated for a transplant. There is no way to know when that might be or how long they will need to stay in Ohio and they need to be prepared for whatever comes next. Any support you can give will assist them through these medical costs and challenges.
Thank you for your prayers and support for Michael and Agnes.
