Support Michael Gray's Fight Against Bone Cancer

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit. Our friend Michael Gray has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer. In December, he felt some pain in his hip and leg area and at first thought he had pulled or strained a muscle. After some time, the pain kept growing, and he went in to his doctor. After tests, they made the diagnosis. He was under treatment—chemotherapy and radiation—for the next 6 months and was heading toward a bone marrow transplant. We thought the treatments were going pretty well, but then, days before the transplant procedures were to begin, his blood work and scans came back and showed the cancer was spreading.

This journey has been incredibly challenging—physically, financially, and emotionally—for both Mike and his family. His wife, Shari, and kids have been right there by his side the whole way, and as you can imagine, it has been difficult for them as well. Mike would never ask for help, but I told him that he is not asking, that there are friends who want to help.

We are seeking support to help cover Mike's medical and living expenses as well as transportation costs to help Shari, Mike, and the family stay afloat during this difficult time. They just became first-time grandparents in the last couple of months. He was in the Mayo Hospital in North Scottsdale for roughly 3 weeks, which is 80 miles one way from Maricopa, where they reside. Shari was making this drive daily, and it really started taking a toll as she has had to work through all of this.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in him and his family's fight against cancer. Your support will allow them to focus on Mike's recovery without the constant worry of how to make ends meet.
