Support Michael Beyer's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Michael Beyer is at home. Thank you to everyone who shared concern, spent their valuable time, and gave money towards his continuing recovery. On October 23, Michael was riding his motorcycle to work when a car hit him on the left side of his body and fled the scene. Michael was rushed to the hospital where they found a compound fracture of his left femur, multiple fractures in his pelvis, both bones in his forearm, and his right thumb. Luckily, his spine was intact, and he is still alive on this earth, thank God!
Throughout all of this, his fiancé, Nichelle Hernandez, has worked tirelessly to take care of him and their family, all the while working full-time and attending to everyday life demands. The orthopedic surgeons ordered him to stay off of his left leg and both arms, so for about four weeks, he only had weight-bearing on his right leg, which proved to be pretty hard but not impossible to complete daily tasks of eating and other bodily functions. Pelvic trauma and breaking the largest bone in the body means a long, intense rehabilitation. Michael has come a long way from being bedridden to progressing onto a wheelchair, moving onto using a walker, and now onto crutches. A positive attitude towards regaining the ability to walk is a driving force to start physical therapy next week.
At this time, he is not working. His job is to get better and stronger, which he is doing each day. We are asking for assistance to help him continue this goal and to help out with monthly bills. It would also be helpful to continue sending well wishes, prayers, and checking in on him, his fiancé, and the rest of the family and friends. We thank you so much for being the loving, caring community both near and far!
