Support Michael and His Village

Last weekend, our good friend Michael was shot and rushed to the local hospital in St. Louis, where he remains in the ICU. What began as an unimaginable phone call for his family and friends has turned into a long road toward healing, but thankfully, Michael has continued to give us reasons to hope.

Over the past week, he has made incredible progress. He has begun opening his eyes, following instructions, moving his arms and legs, recognizing the voices of his loved ones, and even writing to communicate. Each new milestone has been a reminder of the strength and determination that everyone who knows Michael has always seen in him.

In addition to his great work at Boeing, he is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at Washington University in St. Louis, and the support surrounding him has been remarkable. Family, friends, coworkers, classmates, professors, and people from throughout his life have all stepped forward to be there for him.

And, of course, there is Ash. Anyone close to Michael knows that Ash is much more than his dog. He’s his best friend, his road-trip companion, and his son. While Michael focuses on recovering, Ash is being cared for and loved by the people Michael trusts most.

We created this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial weight Michael and his family will face in the weeks and months ahead, including expenses related to his recovery, time away from work, caring for Ash, and the many unexpected costs that come with a situation like this.

Michael has spent years building meaningful relationships everywhere he’s gone. Now all of those people have come together as Michael’s Village.
