Please consider helping our friend. Her name is Mica and she is one of the kindest and most giving people you will ever meet. She is a fierce protector for those she loves and cares for. This includes family, friends, and the pre-k students with special needs that she serves in her local school district. She needs our help. She has been diagnosed with a form of ovarian cancer called endometrioid adenocarcinoma and will begin intensive chemotherapy as treatment very soon. Anyone who has or knows someone who has been touched by this horrible diagnosis understands the great emotional and financial costs.

Not only is Mica experiencing cancer herself, at the end of last year she also lost her own mother to cancer. She was there for her mom every step of the way and she needs us more than ever. Mica is always giving to others and has never once asked for anything in return. 

I have personally seen Mica in the classroom and the way she shines when she works with some of the highest need children in her area is something very special. She presumes competence in all her students and has supported many families by empowering them to be the best they can be. She is such a hard worker and goes above and beyond in everything she does in her life. I could go on and on about how amazing she is.

Mica and her husband, Gary, have already missed a lot of work and are going to continue to miss more due to the chemotherapy starting at the end of this month. As a paraprofessional in education, the pay is minimal. Since Mica is out of days, she will have to essentially pay the district to keep her insurance premiums paid. Just another bill to add onto facilities, doctors, meds, etc.. The medical bills have already started to accumulate and every day expenses are starting to make them feel like they are under water. As someone that pours her life into serving others daily, Mica deserves to not worry about any major financial burdens during this time.
