Hi my name is Izzy, I’m the aunt of one of the coolest little boys out there! Micah JT Lusk is a sweet 6 year old boy from Mount Pleasant Utah, I’m creating this go fund me to tell his story and to support my grandparents, sister and most importantly nephew in his upcoming challenge.
At age 2 1/2 Micah was diagnosed with aortic valve stenosis, a condition that causes narrowing of the aortic valve. This narrowing keeps the valve from opening fully, reducing blood flow to the body and making the heart work harder. In extreme cases it has to be fixed surgically. Which is the position Micah is in. At 4 years old he had his first open heart procedure where they removed built up scar tissue and a membrane that wasn’t supposed to be there. That fix has lasted us until now. At his last echocardiogram they discovered his valve was narrowed so severely that just laying on the table his pressure was reaching the 100s. Which is extremely dangerous and led to the scheduling of this next open heart surgery. This time they will be replacing the aortic valve with the pulmonary valve and placing an artificial one in place of the pulmonary. As you can imagine this condition is very hard on a 6 year old boy, he is not able to play freely or participate in sports or many activities without limitations.
My grandparents ( Micah’s great grandparents) will both be 75 years old this year, they’ve been taking care of Micah since he was two months old. While his mother was in active addiction, she now celebrates two years sober and is present and doing everything she can to support our grandparents and Micah through this next hard step and finding her place in motherhood with him.
I’m telling his story in hopes to ease the financial burden on all of them, my grandparents are both retired and my sister works two jobs and it’s just not enough to cover all the added expenses and being away from home for an unsure amount of time. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated thank you for taking the time to read about this amazing boy! Please share with your friends and family!
