Micah has been fighting one battle after another, and somehow he’s still hanging on. What started as liver failure turned into a full-on medical avalanche, internal bleeding, kidney failure, an artery that decided to cause chaos, and a series of emergencies that none of us were prepared for. Each day has felt like its own plot twist.
He’s still in the ICU, surrounded by monitors, machines, and an entire roster of specialists who know us by first name at this point. Dialysis is finally happening to help clear the toxins his liver and kidneys can’t handle right now. He’s off sedation, still trying to wake up, and we’re taking every little response he gives us as a win.
Even if Micah keeps improving, his road back to "normal" is going to be long. Months of rehab, constant liver and kidney management, follow-ups with half the hospital’s specialist directory, nutritional support, and all the things you never think about until you’re living in an ICU waiting room. Emotionally and financially, it’s a lot. Our family is doing everything we can, but we’ve hit the point where we need help.
Support will go toward:
-ICU care and emergency surgeries
-Dialysis and kidney support
-Medications and ongoing treatment
-Rehab and therapy when he’s stable enough
-Transportation, meals, and time away from work
-Long-term recovery needs
-Whatever new surprise the medical system throws at us next
It’s heavy and he is by no means "out of the woods," but we’re still hopeful. Micah has already defied the odds more than once, and if there’s one thing he’s good at, it’s refusing to do anything the easy way. We’re holding onto every sign that he’s still in there, still fighting, still stubborn enough to push through this. Once Micah is alert and doing better, he will be placed on the transplant list. Until then, we are talking to him, laughing, and playing his favorite music.
Whether you donate, share, or just keep Micah in your thoughts, we’re grateful. Truly. Every bit of support helps us stay standing next to him as he keeps trying to fight his way back.
