My name is Micah, and my two wonderful children are Jagger and Meilah. I’m grateful to share our story. On October 29, 2025, our lives were forever changed by a devastating house fire. The aftermath was heartbreaking; nearly everything inside our home was either completely destroyed or severely damaged by smoke and water.

We lost so much—the entire kitchen, including pots, pans, and dishes; the laundry room, with our washer and dryer; our pantry items; the garage, which housed two air conditioning units, a leaf blower, a chainsaw, and even the above-ground pool I had just purchased this summer. Outside, we had our lawnmowers, 3 new bicycles, and our wood pile that was meant to keep us warm through winter.

Inside, the fire took our three televisions, our sofa, and our dining table and chairs, as well as curtains, towels, sheets, and linens. Each bedroom held many memories with two full-size beds and a queen bed, dressers, lamps, and more that we can no longer touch.

Although we managed to salvage some clothing, we are forever grateful for the generous donations we’ve received. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of others, we now have coats, shoes, and clothes to wear during this challenging time.

Despite everything, Jagger and Meilah continue to shine. My daughter dances five days a week at Watts Studio Dance and is also part of the Appalachian Irish Dance Company. She will be performing at ETSU Martin Center with the PBS Celts on November 16. My son, who has marched with the EHS BETSY BAND for two years, didn’t allow the fire to hold him back; he pushed on to compete in the state championship—where they won again! I couldn’t be prouder of him. They both truly love being active members of our community and dedicate their time to helping others.

As we navigate the road ahead, we cherish the resilience and spirit of our family and very dear friends. I have no words to express how we are getting by-just day to day and one step at a time.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Any gift no matter how great or small is appreciated.

❣️Love and kindness are never wasted. They will always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver❣️
