Support Micael in a Career Building Workshop

Donation protected
I was recently selected as one of ten artists to attend the Milkwood Graphic Novel and Comic Workshop for BIPOC Creators . (yay!)

Currently my illustration career is based on supporting others in their projects and visions. However, I would like to shift my career so that I can share my own experiences and perspectives with the world in the form of Children’s Books and Graphic novels. I recently completed my first independently published children’s book, Hansel and Gretel, but finding a wider audience through a major publisher is a challenge for a young artist like myself. Participating in the Milkwood workshop is an important step in my journey toward this goal, and will help me gather the connections and ideas to move forward.

The Milkwood workshop is exclusively open to BIPOC artists, takes place this August in the Catskill Mountains in New York, and will be led by the seasoned author/illustrators Ruth Chan and Sharee Miller . Over the four-day intensive workshop I will learn from their experiences in the industry, build community with fellow selected attendees, receive one-on-one consultations with Ruth and Sharee, and develop techniques in hands-on workshops. These are tools that will launch my career into this field and provide direct connections to those who have successfully forged their own path.

I am writing today to both tell you about this exciting news, but to also ask for your support. The program costs $1600, which includes accommodations and all meals throughout my stay, but does not include my travel expenses to and from New York. I need to secure my spot with payment in full by April 1st. Any donation, big or small, would mean so much to me and directly support advancements in my career!
I will be sending a thank you letter and update out to everyone who donates to show my gratitude for helping me make this possible! You can view my illustrations on my website at: https://www.micaelnunez.com/portfolio
