This is Mia, a beautiful and loving adult cat. She grew up in a loving home with other animals but once a baby was added to the family, she began evidencing signs of extreme stress. Mia began overgrooming and losing her hair, she began self mutilating and had scabs everywhere she could scratch. She had explosive diarrhea (a chronic condition that began before the baby came, but was made much worse after). Her behavior changed dramatically and she became reclusive. Her owner spared no expense at the veterinarian and after more than a year of tests and trying new meds and new food, it was clear that Mia was literally wasting away and dying inside due to stress. The choice was humane euthanasia or watching her die slowly in misery. After consultation, an idea was hatched to see if a new environment could bring Mia out of her misery and a foster was found with no other pets, and certainly no babies. Mia slowly improved, grew her hair back, came out of her shell. But....the diarrhea and stomach upset has continued. Mia's foster has, on her own dime, sought out specialty care to try to relieve Mia's condition. I know her foster is on a tight budget so we have put this small fundraiser together in hopes that the community will assist this loving cat to not only get well, but to find a permanent quiet home with an understanding owner who will see that she gets the love and care she craves. All funds will go directly to the foster exclusively for Mia's care.
