Hi, my name is Karla and this is my 3 year old german shepherd dog, Mia. I’ve had Mia since she was a little puppy, she has always been a healthy girl.

Unfortunately, things took a turn when I came home yesterday, 8/30. Mia’s eye look hazy and blueish. It was very strange because before I left she was looking her normal self and had regular eyes. I contacted a live vet, who recommended to take her to the ER, due to her not following her toy with her eyes, having discharge and that weird looking appearance of haziness.

We rushed her to the ER, they told us we were gonna do some eye tests. When the results came in, they were abnormal, it was secondary glaucoma. She has high pressure on her left eye, it is on the 50s. They gave her 3 rounds of medication and nothing worked. Later that night , they also informed us that they found a mass on her left kidney. Today, 8/31, they recommended us to see an ophthalmologist. We drove all the day to West Palm Beach to find out Mia is permanently blind on her left eye. We left with more medication and now they have recommended us to do eye removal surgery, to see the cause of the glaucoma and alivate her pain.

The vet warned us it could be cancer, they will need to do more testing to determine the exact cause but unfortunately we don’t have more funds to get the help needed. Eye surgery alone cost $1500 and we still need to do kidney biopsy and get her to an internal medicine doctor.

Me and my boyfriend have spent almost 4k in the span of two days and still missing the surgery.
