Twenty-eight years ago, I received one of my greatest honors: I became a big sister. From the moment she took her first breath, Mia changed my life. I truly believe she came into this world to change it, too—always leading with love, compassion, and a voice for those who need it most.
It was no surprise to anyone when Mia chose to become a special education teacher. Watching her love and advocate for her students at Shiloh Middle School has been a beautiful gift. She is a pillar of that community and truly the best of the best.
Mia has spent her life giving to others; now, it is our turn to pour that love back into her. On February 24, 2026, our world came to a standstill when my beautiful sister was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer at only twenty-eight years old.
Breast cancer is a devastating hurdle for anyone, but being diagnosed as a young woman brings unique challenges that aren’t discussed enough. Even with “good” insurance, the upfront costs for aggressive treatment and fertility preservation are overwhelming.
While Mia’s medical team is confident she will beat this, we want to ease the financial burden on Mia and her incredible husband, Nick. After Mia announced her diagnosis, she received an incredible amount of love and support. Many individuals have reached out to both Mia and myself asking to donate directly. We have been blown away in the most beautiful way. This GoFundMe will directly go to Mia and Nick. The money will be used to pay for aggressive cancer treatments and fertility preservation that her "good" insurance refuses to pay. There are no words to express our gratitude for every donation, shirt purchase, and prayers—thank you. Mia's fight is our fight.
